The Northeastern University Huskiers and Outing Club (NUHOC) has leased land in Shelburne, NH since 1971. However, in 2015, a fire burned down the property and caused devastation to the club. Over the past several years, the club has put up a temporary structure to house students while students work behind the scenes to build a new Lodge, facilitated by NUHOC’s Build Committee. So far, students have facilitated the development of architectural plans, bought construction materials, consulted with contractors, and worked to obtain a building permit. Recently, NEOCA took over the lease of the NUHOC lodge property in order to further its goal of facilitating outdoor access through lodge management. NEOCA hopes to support NUHOC as it works to rebuild its lodge and begin a new chapter of its history.
